Jonathan Guttenberg
Psychologist (he/him)
Hola! I’m Jono, a psychologist from the beautiful south coast of NSW. I am someone who is super passionate when it comes to my interests, which include old Japanese cars, video games and fantasy/science fiction. I also love to spend time playing music, bouldering and attempting to hit golf balls properly!
I have experience providing neuro-affirming, trauma-informed therapeutic interventions for children and people across NGO, NDIS and public education settings. I have supported young people navigating difficult life transitions, low self-esteem, mood changes, worry, burnout, challenges with executive function, big emotions, trauma and living with different abilities. I also have experience using standardised cognitive and learning assessment tools to identify intellectual developmental delay, giftedness and specific learning disorders. Outside the therapy room, I have conducted research to explore access to therapy for boys and young men who are experiencing stigma around help-seeking.
As someone with a lived experience of being neurodivergent, I have a big interest in approaching therapy from a strengths-based perspective, alongside understanding the factors that might have led to a difficult season. Authentic rapport and client autonomy are deeply important to me. My approach is primarily informed Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Narrative Therapy.
